** WINDOWS VISTA/WINDOWS 7 USERS: IMPORTANT NOTE **
The v3.5 update will move your PWC install location directly to your C drive. A copy of your old PWC folder will be saved as "PWC-OLD" in your documents folder. If you have successfully updated to v3.5, you may delete your older v3.0 using the Windows "remove a program" function. If you do choose to delete the old version of PWC, your desktop shortcut will also be deleted and you will need to create a new one.
|
|
** MAC USERS: IMPORTANT NOTE **
The v3.5 update will install a brand new folder named "Personal Wine Curator v3.5" in your Applications folder. To run the update, open the new v3.5 folder and run PWC v3.5 from there. After you run v3.5, a copy of your old PWC folder will be saved as "PWC-OLD" in your documents folder (and be deleted from your Applications folder). If you have successfully updated to v3.5, you will want to replace your desktop alias if you have one. If you have placed PWC in your dock, remove it from the dock and place v3.5 into the dock instead.

Wine "Value" now imports from Excel.
"Value" report now has page numbers on all pages.
Date fields on "Purchase History" and "Drink History" have been lengthened.

|
|
Release Notes for v2.4.3
|
| 2005 vintages had a small error. Taken care of here.
We've fixed a small bug with the "Wish List" -- Wish List wines totals are now correct. Additionally, if you have bottles of a wine in your cellar currently you will now be prevented from accidentally adding them to your Wish List. You CAN have them on your Wish List if you are out of stock. If you use the Wish List regularly, you should go through your Wish List wines and un-check then re-check the Wish List box to ensure your Wish List is correct.
On Order wine totals were not refreshing correctly at all times. They now do.
Wine Summary will now print on three-hole paper with no "cut-off" of information because of the holes.
The "List Wines Ready Now" function (accessed on the Home screen) now gives you the option to list wines that are "mature" OR wines that have a "drink after" date that is earlier than the current year.
|
|
Release Notes for v2.4.0
|
| The big news for v2.4.0 is that we've updated the aging potentials to include the most recent information on the 2005 vintage. Have fun!
Also note that on the "Purchase History" layout, the "Average cost per bottle" field has been changed to "Average purchase price" since there seemed to be some confusion about exactly what was being "averaged."
|
|
|
Release Notes for v2.3.0
|
| The "On Order" function was not correctly including wines that had "arrived." Now appearing correctly in the Cellar. |
|
|
Release Notes for v2.2.2
|
| We've added a "Spreadsheet" layout for those of you who want total control over which fields appear on your Cellar List, and in what order those fields appear. In the "Lists" custom menu at the very top of your screen you'll now see "Spreadsheet." Click that to view your list as a completely "plain Jane" spreadsheet. (See picture)

Drag the columns into whatever order you want. (See picture)

Once you're viewing the spreadsheet you can sort your wines by going to the "Sort" custom menu at the very top of your screen (only available from the "Spreadsheet" layout). You may print the Spreadsheet by going to the "File" custom menu at the very top of your screen and clicking "Print." When you're finished viewing/printing the Spreadsheet, go to the "File" custom menu at the very top of your screen and click "Close Spreadsheet." (See picture)

We've added a hidden Tech Layout for special functions that you are likely to use only once. From the Home screen, hold down your control key and click the "Home" button (again). You'll be taken to the hidden Tech Layout. Use this layout to: DELETE all your wines; REPLACE all your varietals with whatever is in the Distinction field for each wine. To exit the hidden Tech Layout simply click the "Home" button again. **NOTE THESE ACTIONS CANNOT BE UNDONE.
We've added a button at the bottom of the "graphic" field that makes it much easier to add a graphic. On the Wine entry/edit layout, just below the field where you may "place your own picture" you'll see a small button with a "+" on it. Click that button to choose your graphic and paste it into the graphic field.
You can now back up PWC to a disk of your choosing. Just go to the Home screen and click "Back Up PWC." Note that whenever you close the program, PWC always makes a backup of your data file to the "Backups" folder in case of data corruption.
All Reports now show Varietal and Location.
New grapes were not correctly being added to the "cepagement" (the list of grapes for a particular wine). New grapes now being added correctly.
To be perfectly clear, we added the word "total" to the "Expense" report header. It now reads "sorted by total expense." (It used to read "sorted by expense.")
The Cellar List now loads faster for users with very large collections.
When using the Aging Potential Calculator, occasionally a "Drink By" date was appearing as earlier than a "Drink After" date. All "Drink By" and "Drink After" dates now appear as they should.
Subregion/Region/Country data that was changed on the same wine, during the same session, was not cleared in the Maturity Calculator, resulting in inocorrect display data. This no longer occurs.
If you were trying to calculate maturity for most wines with a vintage of 2005 (or later) you were not getting an error message -- but you should have been, as there is almost no vintage rating info yet about most 2005 wines. We'll be issuing an update in 2007 that will cover 2005 vintage ratings, but in the meantime, now if you try to calculate a maturity for a vintage we don't cover, you'll get a message telling you there's no info.
Delete all "Purchase Histories" would result in the record becoming "lost." This no longer happens.
The Vintage field on the "Menu Maker" part 2 (Cellar tab) was too short on Windows machines. Vintage now not cut off.
If you were only using custom ratings, when you clicked the "Ratings" tab it would produce an error. All wines now appear in the Ratings list.

|
|
Release Notes for v2.0.1
|
| Spell-check now enabled.
"Value" field added to the "Search by field" layout.
ID number was not showing up after using the "Duplicate" button. Now appears as it should. (Note that the ID was, in fact, created -- simply wasn't appearing.)
"Print" layout (a.k.a. "printer friendly list") showed incorrect ID numbers. IDs are now appear as they should.
"Varietal" was missing from the import fields. Now present.
The "Sample Wine" was re-appearing after being deleted. Now permanently removed when deleted.
Page 2 of the Value report was mis-labeled. Correctly labeled now.
"Rating" now has a full tooltip on the cellar list layouts.
Clicking "New Wine" from the "Menu" layout resulted in an error. Corrected.
After "Duplicating" a wine, if data was changed before adding the quantity, the old data still appeared in the "Add Quantity" window. All new data now appears as it should in the "Add Quantity" window. (Note that the data only "appeared" incorrectly.)
The ability to delete all records in the database has been added as an advanced feature. Contact tech support if required.
